The PerfIC Cath is intended for use in adult male and adult female patients requiring bladder drainage as determined by their physician. This device is indicated for those individuals who are unable to promote natural urine ow or for those individuals who have significant volume of residual urine following a natural bladder-voiding episode.
Caution: U.S. Federal law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a physician.
Precaution: If any sign of trauma or discomfort occurs, discontinue use and contact your physician
Do not open the device outer bag until you are ready to use it.
Step 1: Put finger in loop on bell cap, hold base of introducer tip as shown, pull cap off at an angle (as opposed to straight off).
Step 2: Insert the introducer approximately 1/2 inch into the urethra opening. Then, advance catheter through the introducer and into the urethra opening where urine leaves the body. The outer sheath provides a grip so that the catheter may be manipulated and advanced. It also helps provide a sterile barrier for the catheter.
Step 3: If using a coude tip, ensure tip is pointing up towards your chin during insertion.
Step 4: Continue to advance the catheter into the bladder until urine begins to flow, then stop. Urine will be visible in the catheter tube and drainage bag when flowing.
Step 5: Once the urine flow stops, pull catheter back into the sheath and then remove the catheter and introducer tip from the urethra.
Step 6: Discard urine into appropriate receptacle. Two large holes have been provided so that you may grasp them to allow tearing of the bag for drainage.
Step 7: Discard catheter assembly into appropriate receptacle.
Warning: After use, this product is potentially infectious, i.e. a “biohazard”. Dispose of properly.
